In a world where violence and discrimination threaten global stability, the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition was started on the premise that tolerance is more important than ever and that cartoons rely on tolerance and wisdom, and form one of the building blocks of societies open to differences of opinion and beliefs. 

Today the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition is acknowledged in the world as the Oscar of cartoons. The competition has been organised for 27 years. 

So far, more than 6500 artists from 128 countries have taken part in the competition. 

These figures are indicative of the scope and importance of the award. 

The jury of the Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, which attracts reputable cartoonists from around the world, are from among the most distinguished master cartoonists of the world.
